Aim

This introductory safety training programme is designed to introduce the fundamental safety elements of the offshore oil & gas industry to new starts, giving an appreciation of the potential hazards and controls that might be encountered by personnel offshore. Each unit has been designed to focus the delegates’ attention on their personal responsibility for safety thus influencing their behaviour and attitude towards their co-workers, the installation and the environment.

  3. Understanding the risk assessment process
  4. Tasks that require permit to work
  5. Personal responsibility and maintain asset integrity
  6. Using manual handling techniques everyday
  7. Controlling the use of hazardous substances offshore
  8. Knowledge and practices of working at height
  9. Being aware of mechanical lifting activities

Course Format

The course is mainly classroom based, with a number of practical elements to the training.

Equipment Required

National Photographic ID cards (Passport/Drivers license) – compulsory to attend the course

Certifications

Successful delegates are awarded OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Training Certificate, valid for 4 years.
