Office Safety





A safe and healthy work environment provides the foundation for increased productivity and a more contented workforce. Prevention is the best way to deal with Occupational Health and Safety issues.

An employee, you should have an obligation to take all practicable steps to ensure your own safety and the safety of others in your workplace.

This course will provide all participants with an understanding of the basic principles and practices required to support a successful health and safety program, as well as the legal framework surrounding these responsibilities.

This course is not designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of your legal obligations. Therefore should not be treated as legal advice


The course will present an insight into safe office practices.

Course Competency Assessment

At the completion of the course, delegates will be required to undertake both a classroom and practical assessment, created against the competencies.


  • Understanding the OHS legislation applicable to the office environment
  • His/her Occupational Health and Safety (health and safety) obligations as an employee in the office environment.
  • Employers’ health and safety obligations.
  • Identifying, assessing, controlling and monitoring hazards which you may encounter in an office environment.
  • Reporting workplace hazards.
  • The importance of consultation and communication.
  • Remedial action you can take when affected by workplace hazards.
  • Preventing Occupational Overuse Syndrome (OOS).
  • The risks associated with inappropriate consumption of alcohol and drugs.
