Aim

This introductory safety training programme is designed to introduce and re-enforce the key safety elements of working in the oil & gas industry.

The course content covers the potential hazards and controls that might be encountered by personnel.

Each unit has been designed to focus the delegate’s attention on their personal responsibility for safety thus influencing their behaviour and attitude towards their co-workers, the installation and the environment.

Each module benefits from interactive tutoring ensuring candidates will gain an awareness of the variety of tasks and the safety risks to be found on offshore installations

Objectives

On completion of the course, the delegates will know the core principles of oilfield safety covering nine basic safety elements. A view of the British and relevant international standards looking at nine modules complete with assessments ensuring understanding of:

  • The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • The Health & Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974 (ALARP concept)
  • Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)

Course Competency Assessment

At the completion of the course, attendees will be required to undertake a multi-choice type written classroom assessment created against the course competencies.
